This is a collection of 15 never-before-released live recordings of popular saxophonist Stan Getz, recorded 58 years after his first appearance with his regular quartet at the Village Gate jazz club in New York City in November 1961. This is the first time that a recording of the quartet formation of Steve Keune (p)-John Neves (b)-Roy Haynes (ds) has been released to the world. Since the following year, Goetz has recorded the big hit Bossa Nova albums "Jazz Samba" and "Goetz/Gilberto," but on this recording, he plays solo in every direction as a natural swinger, using famous standards and Jazzman originals as material. The sound quality is as crisp and clear as the original recordings. This is a joint project between Resonance Records, which has released a series of previously unreleased Jazz Giants recordings, and the Verve label.
