The album is the first full-length album of new songs since the release of "NEW" in 2013, the album that conquered the world charts, and the first album since his move to Capitol Records, his old home. Prior to the album, the double A-side singles "I Don't Know" and "Come On To Me" were released on June 21. I Don't Know" starts with a beautiful piano intro and is a dramatic medium/ballad tune that only Paul could have created, while "Come On To Me" is a catchy rock tune that is sure to get people excited at live shows. Both songs are a well-balanced mix of Paulishness reminiscent of The Beatles and Wings with a modern sound, foreshadowing the album's high level of perfection. The album was recorded in LA, London, and Sussex, and produced by Greg Kurstin (Adele, Beck, Foo Fighters) except for one song (*). (* That one song is by Ryan Tedder of One Republic). Paul has this to say about the album title:" I like the term 'Egypt Station.It reminds me of the 'albums' we used to make. The first song on "Egyptian Station" starts with a train station, and each song is like a different train station. That idea is the basis for all the songs. It's a dreamlike place that the music creates." True to the idea of the title "Egyptian Station," the songs on the album have a unique travelogue (travelogue film) feel to them. Between the album's first and last instrumentals, "Station I" and "Station II," Paul captures the place and time, smoothly transporting the listener to the next destination.
