Miroslav Vitous, the great bassist born in the Czech Republic, once again returned to the music of Weather Report! He formed the group with Joe Zawinul and Wayne Shorter in 1970. The freedom of improvisation in early Weather Report fascinated Vitous. He follows the old solo rallying call of "solos for everyone and solos for no one." He also played "Birdland," "Seventh Arrow," "Scarlet Woman," "Pinocchio," and "Morning Lake," which are representative of the Weather Report repertoire, as well as "Juggler's Issue," a song from the original Weather Report lineup. Juggler's Issue", a song that was never recorded, even though it was part of the original Weather Report lineup. Interspersed among them are three new blues tunes from the pen of Vitous. The band is more energetic and rhythmic with Gerald Cleaver and Nasheet Waits on double drums, and the fast tempos are well executed. And Vitouse's bass sometimes sounds like a third horn between the two saxophones!
