Born in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1980, Colin Varone is a brilliant young pianist representing the new generation of ECM artists. This work features his trio. Retaining bassist Patrice Morel while welcoming new drummer Julien Sartorius, this album marks a fresh start and is their first release in three years since their 2011 ECM debut, 'Rruga'. All members, including Vallon, possess strong compositional skills, focusing primarily on original compositions. Reflecting Switzerland's multi-ethnic character, their delicate, sensitive, and melodic world blends diverse musical elements from Eastern Europe, the Balkans, and Turkey, woven together with a contemporary sensibility influenced by Radiohead. This approach has earned them high acclaim. Recorded in Oslo in April 2013, produced by Manfred Eicher.
