Andre Rieu—the “New Flying Dutchman” born in the Netherlands, a “musical revolutionary” who changed the course of classical music, and the “King of Waltz”—has drawn more than 3 million concertgoers to date and earned platinum records in Europe and around the world. He has risen to the pinnacle of the classical crossover world. Leading his own 60-member orchestra and choir while conducting and playing a Stradivarius violin said to be worth approximately 300 million yen, he is truly a modern-day Johann Strauss. This album is his latest release following 2011’s *And the Waltz Goes On*, a live album featuring Christmas songs beloved around the world. The recording took place in a cozy, home-like atmosphere at Rieu’s castle—his private residence in Maastricht, the Netherlands. Among the many familiar Christmas songs included—such as “Silent Night,” “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire),” “O Holy Night,” and “White Christmas”—the inclusion of Rieu’s original composition, “December Lights,” has also become a talking point. Rieu says he wrote this song inspired by his early days in Brussels, Belgium, where he met his wife, Marjorie. “Back then, I was a young, poor man studying the violin. Although I lacked material comforts, thanks to being with such a wonderful person as her, that was the happiest time of my life,” says Rieu, presenting this Christmas song filled with love.
