This complete edition features trumpeter Dorham alongside J.R. Monteroze, Kenny Barrel, Bobby Timmons, Sam Jones, and Arthur Edghill. Produced by Joe Harley and remastered from the original master tapes by Kevin Gray, it comes with a booklet featuring previously unpublished photographs by Francis Wolff and an essay by Sid Schwartz.
This is Kenny Dorham’s first live recording under his own name, recorded in May 1956 at the legendary New York club “Café Bohemia.”
Centered around trumpeter Kenny Dorham, the lineup features J.R. Monterose on tenor saxophone, Kenny Burrell on guitar, Bobby Timmons on piano, Sam Jones on bass, and Arthur Edgehill on drums. In addition to numerous original compositions by Dorham, Monk, and Dizzy Gillespie, this masterpiece collection brings together a carefully selected selection of classics from the Great American Songbook!
