This is the third album in two years by the popular guitar trio of Wolfgang Moospiel, one of the leading guitarists of ECM's second generation. This is the second Tokyo-recorded work by the popular trio, described by Downbeat magazine as "a trio with the empathy of the Bill Evans Trio. This time around, the trio takes a swinging approach and sets the stage for the most adventurous of trio recordings with a sensitive interpretation of Keith Jarrett's "Lisbon Stomp. Throughout the album, Scott Corey and Brian Braid spotlight Wolfgang's charming original compositions, which include balladic lyricism ("Pradela," "Traversia"), subtle folk elements ("Strumming," "Flight" ), subtle folk elements ("Strumming," "Flight"), and indirect chamber jazz ("We Will You Wait"), and stirring rock 'n' roll ("Roll"). Wolfgang uses acoustic and electric guitar fluently and in equal measure, highlighting his soft touch and fluent lines in a program that encompasses the broad musical range he has unraveled over the past several decades. By closing the album with a clever interpretation of Paul Motian's "Abacus," Moospiel completes the album in a way that alludes to a large part of jazz and ECM history.
