Recorded in 1957, this album is one of Dizzy's finest works, featuring collaborations with jazz masters Sonny Stitt and Sonny Rollins. Rumor has it that Gillespie teased the two musicians into competing with each other before the session, raising the bar and resulting in an iconic album. Ray Bryant (piano), Tommy Bryant (bass), and Charlie Persip (drums) join Gillespie, Stitt, and Rollins on four tracks, showcasing two different approaches to the tenor saxophone. Stitt takes on "The Eternal Triangle" head-on with burning passion, while Rollins counters with a more cautious approach. However, the two battle it out evenly throughout the set, leaving no doubt that both are heavyweight champions.
