Saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins' first new album in two years. This album was co-produced by Wilkins and Michel Ndegeocello. The title of this album, which Wilkins himself describes as "like listening to a scene where your mother takes you to the kitchen and teaches you a recipe," refers to the story of Daniel Hamm, a boy who was arrested in 1964 for a crime he did not commit and was repeatedly beaten by prison guards, but never received treatment because he "did not bleed. Wilkins describes the music of "Blues Blood," which is full of unique ideas, such as the simultaneous cooking of traditional recipes as they are performed on stage, and the use of microphones to pick up the sounds of knives cutting ingredients and boiling water and assimilate them into the sound. It's hard to put into words, but I do know that the music has alchemical power. It's very powerful.
