Burt Bacharach (three-time Academy Award and six-time Grammy Award-winning songwriter, arranger, composer, and pianist with a 70-year career) has been a constant and creative influence in Elvis Costello's life. After recording several covers of Bacharach songs, Costello finally had the opportunity to collaborate with Bacharach on the song "God Give Me Strength" from the 1996 film Grace of My Heart. The collaboration continued through the following year with the release of the album Painted From Memory in 1998, and "I Still Have The Other Girl" won a Grammy in 1999 for Best Pop Collaboration with a Vocalist. Over the next 25 years, more Bacharach & Costello songs were produced. This collection, The Songs of Bacharach & Costello, captures the whole story.The collection will include covers of Costello's early Bacharach songs, live performances from the Painted From Memory album, the Lonely World Tour, songs from Taken From Life - the stage score for Painted From Memory, and three new recordings of Costello songs.
