This is the debut release from impulse!Recorded between November 2020 and February 2021 in New York and the legendary Van Gelder Studios, the album deftly captures Brandee's spirit of weaving genres that pay homage to his predecessors while breaking new ground in sound, seamlessly blending classical music, R&B, hip-hop, jazz, and It seamlessly blends classical music, R&B, hip-hop, jazz, and funk into a genre-bending work that recalls the nostalgic black soul of harp pioneers Alice Coltrane and Dorothy Ashby, as well as the influences of 90s R&B groups like SWV and Xscape! Produced by Dezron Douglas, the album features Allan Mednard (ds), Rashaan Carter (b), Maurice Brown (tp), Chelsea Baratz (ts), Anne Drummond (fl), and drumming and drum programming by Marcus Gilmore on drums and drum programming.. In addition, legendary bassist Ron Carter and Tarriona "Tank" Ball will also guest! Speaking to writer Marcus J.
