Vashti Bunyan, the legendary diva of British folk. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its release, an expanded edition of her second album "Look After Me" is now available. Vashti Bunyan's "Lookaftering" celebrates its 20th anniversary. To commemorate this and also Vashti's 80th birthday, an expanded edition is being released. In addition to the original studio album, the expanded edition will include a disc of demo versions of the original album, alternate takes, and live performances. It will also be accompanied by a 16-page lyric booklet featuring sleeve notes by Vashti, Max Richter (producer), and Devendra Banhart, as well as paintings by Vashti's daughter, Whyn Lewis (which, coincidentally, faithfully reflect the album's lyrics). Says Vashti, "The beautiful photo of Max in the studio playing a glass of wine with his young daughter's violin bow reminds me of how lucky I am and all."The demos from 2001-2005 were recorded by Vashti experimenting with synthesizers at home, from piano to strings, pipe organ, harmonium, recorder, and accordion, accompanied by acoustic and electric guitars! The album is a very good example of the kind of music Vashti is known for. Of course, the sound is stripped down compared to the finished album. However, a live version of "Lately," recorded at an early "comeback" gig in LA in 2006, has the same orchestration as the record and is flawless.
