Formed in 1972 by Jan Bledowski (violin), Maciej Radziejewski (guitar), and Jacek Gazda (bass)—who had previously played in Czesław Niemen’s backing band—the band underwent several lineup changes, disbandments, and reunions, continuing their activities until 2013. A compilation album featuring studio session recordings made in January and May 1981 for radio broadcast by this Polish heavy blues/jazz-rock/crossover band—KRZAK—was released in 2026 by GAD Records in Poland! From their early, aggressive blues-rock sound—which seemed to embody their youthful energy—to their attempt to evolve into a stylish crossover/fusion style in pursuit of broader musical expression, while at the same time, original member Jan Bledowski left the band due to creative differences at the end of July immediately following these recordings, This recording captures the band during a period that can truly be described as tumultuous. It includes four pre-release versions of tracks—"Legendarnydziobak," "Ptakmoichmarzen," "Zezowatykot," and " Tajemniczy świat Mariana," which were also included on their second album *PACZKA* released the following year, along with "Sciepka" and "Drzewo oliwne"—originally released as part of the same ’81 EP—and a live performance of the rare single "Funky 608D," for a total of 10 tracks. The sound itself is largely in line with their second album, based on smart fusion instrumentals infused with jazz-funk and progressive elements. It features tracks like “Acik,” a technical jazz-rock piece where intricate drumming creates a sense of tension, and the acoustic “KolysankadlaMaciusia”—all showcasing the band’s unique and diverse musical style. This release is a precious archive—deserving of the title “the phantom second album”—that is indispensable for understanding the band’s history! The master uses newly remastered audio sourced directly from the original master tapes.
