The Impact of the Plague Age Orchestra Again! Polonaise-style music that transcends country and time! The Plague Age Orchestra, an East European Polish period ensemble that made a big splash with its shocking ensemble name and unique theme of "Telemann in the Polish Era," will next take up the theme of "Polonaise"! The Polonaise is a collection of thousands of 18th century folk dance melodies from German-speaking countries, collected by Johann Heinrich Durnhoff (1704-1764), a local folk instrumentalist in Westphalia, Germany, who was reportedly a parishioner of an evangelical church, and later transcribed by his son Johann Dietrich Durnhoff. The "Durnhoff Collection" is a collection of thousands of folk dance melodies from 18th century German-speaking countries that were later transcribed by his son, Johann Dietrich Durnhoff (1704-1764). Later, the Swedish ethnologist Nils Denker (1887-1963), who was born in Sweden in the early 20th century, transcribed the "Polonaise" from the "Daanhof Collection" and compiled it into the "Codex Ms. 4023. This "Codex Ms. 4023" is known as one of the largest collections of Polish dances from the first half of the 18th century, and Denker's transcriptions are used in the performances of this plague-era orchestra.Music in the Form of Polonaise" has crossed the borders and history of Germany, Poland and Sweden.
