Description:
Latest live performance in February 2005! The third Bruckner 8th, the culmination of the collaboration between the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and its laureate conductor Haitink! The latest live performance of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and its laureate conductor Haitink is now available. This is Haitink's fourth live recording of Bruckner No. 8, and the third with the Concertgebouw since the first recording of the complete works (1965) and a digital re-recording (1981). And one of Haitink's most famous recordings of the Eighth is the PHILIPS disc with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra [recorded in 1995]. The performance is orthodox, but the scale is large and the expression is refined. The beautiful sound of the Vienna Philharmonic is also very natural. The 8th was also selected as the program for the May 2004 concert in Japan with the Staatskapelle Dresden.According to records, this is Haitink's 18th concert repertoire, which he performed more than 20 times during his tenure at the Concertgebouw until 1988. The first time he performed No. 8 in concert with the orchestra was in 1959. The live performance of Bruckner No. 8 with the orchestra, which has cultivated the tradition of Bruckner performance for nearly half a century, naturally brings a special feeling to one's heart. The first movement overwhelmed the audience with its unmistakable character. The roar of the brass in the scherzo is ferocious. The Adagio, which evokes a sense of eternity, is also a masterpiece, and the grand finale leaves an indelible impression. The recording is also superb.
