Revival of a Masterpiece! The Chamber Music Version of "Song of the Earth"! Oksalis' masterpiece, the chamber music version of "Song of the Earth" has been re-released under a new label! If you have not experienced it yet, please try it. This chamber music version was completed in 1983 by Rainer Lehn, who added the 21 pages of the opening score to a draft that Schoenberg had worked on in 1920 but never completed. Compared to the original version, which is a large work with two soloists, three horns (four horns), and a variety of percussion instruments, this version is a very tight arrangement. The performance itself is quite orthodox, so it is just right to explore the secrets of Mahler's music that emerge from this arrangement. Of course, we cannot expect the roar of the orchestra or the vast cosmic expanse that is possible only with a huge orchestration. However, what becomes clear now that the "line" has become even clearer is the fact that Mahler was a genius who could write music with a density as tight and concentrated as that of small chamber music, no matter how large the orchestra. There are moments in "Farewell," for example, when the strings seem to be more closely resembling the poetry of Meng Hao Chan or Qian Qi than the original ensemble. King International
