Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz) completes his second solo album. This is the first solo album in seven and a half years from the man recognized as one of the most influential musicians in the UK for his diverse musical style and measured lyrics. The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows is Damon Albarn's second solo album and will be released on November 12, 2021 on his new label, Transgressive Records. The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows was originally intended as an orchestral work inspired by the Icelandic landscape, but under lockdown last year, Albarn further explored themes of vulnerability, loss, emergence, and rebirth and expanded it into 11 tracks that further explore themes of vulnerability, loss, emergence, and rebirth. The result is a panoramic collection of songs that make themselves storytellers (the album's title is taken from JohnClare's poem "Love and Memory").When I was making this record, I was on my own dark journey," says Albarn. I came to believe that a pure source might still exist," says Albarn. Over the years of musical shift and exploration, the record reveals more of Albarn's own territory, along with orchestral arrangements that nestle into intimate melodies and dissonances that hone an infectious solemnity.
