Bruno Philippe BachRichard Philippe, the remarkable French cellist Bruno Philippe, who is just under 30 years old, has recorded the complete works of Bach's Suites for unaccompanied cello. He carefully studied the works, starting from the selection of the score, and determined the fundamental theme of each work: No. 1 in G major, "Birth"; No. 2 in D minor, "Experience"; No. 3 in C major, "Life"; No. 4 in E flat major, "Spiritual"; No. 5 in C minor, "Death"; No. 6 in D major, "Resurrection"; and after careful consideration, he also determined the order in which to record the pieces. The order in which the pieces were recorded was also decided after careful consideration. While playing gut strings in the Ensemble Jupiter, of which Thomas Dunford and Jean Rondeau are members, as a bass continuo player, he became deeply acquainted with the charms of gut strings, which he plays in this recording. This recording is the ultimate achievement of Bruno Philippe, who plays free and fluttery music with an easy technique. Bruno Philippe was born in 1993. He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris with Raphaël Pidou and others, and won the 3rd Prize and the Audience Prize at the Munich International Competition in 2014.Special prize winner at the Feuermann Competition in 2014 and the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2015; "Instrumentarl Revelation" prize at the Victoire de la Musique in 2018. He has performed in prestigious halls and music festivals in France and with many prestigious orchestras. He has also performed chamber music with world-class musicians such as Tabea Zimmermann and Tamestit. He is also a member of the Ensemble Jupiter, an ancient music group led by Jean Rondeau and others.
