Dan Curtin, a Cleveland, Ohio native now residing in Berlin, has been releasing original techno music since the early 90's and has been working for various labels, and is recognized as a representative of early post-Detroit techno with Morgan Geist, Titonton Duvante, and others. His 2001 album for the long-established Belgian label "Elypsia" has been released again!
The info on the label makes you wonder if it's a dead stock...? The info on this album makes one wonder if it is a dead stock or not, but it is unclear if it is a repress or not. The contents are the same as those released in 2001, with remixes by Carl Craig's Planet E label mates Common Factor and Recloose, and a remix by Mettle Music, who was active in releasing music on UK's Toko Records. The album features remixes from both Common Factor and Recloose, Carl Craig's Planet E label mates.
Dan Curtin's own A1, which unfolds in an unusually relaxed manner, but still has a distinctive sound, and the jazzy Recloose remix of B1, with its extended bass line wrapping the bass and changing colors as key phrases are layered on top of each other, is also different from the B1. B2 by Mettle Music, which presents a jazzy form, but with just the right amount of lightness and tightness characteristic of UK house, is a smooth song that I hope will be conveyed to all deephousers, and I recommend it!
