Description:
A collection of Spanish and French piano works surrounding Ricardo Vinyes! This is the third solo album by Armenian pianist Sofia Melikyan, who won first prize at the Marisa Montiel International Piano Competition in Linares, Spain, and the Ibiza International Piano Competition. Previously, she has released an album of works by female composers such as Gubaidulina and Saariaho (IBS72018), and Melikyan, who was inspired a lot by Goya's paintings, combined Granados's "Goyescas" and Montpauw's works, also inspired by Goya's paintings. Melikyan has a proven track record of recording programs with connotations, such as the Spanish album (KTC1607). His new album, "Presence lointaine," also focuses on Ricardo Vinyes, a Spanish pianist active in France who is known as a premiere performer of piano works by Debussy and Ravel, and includes works from Spain and France surrounding Vinyes (including works dedicated to Vinyes and works by Vinyes). The program is an ambitious one, interspersing Spanish and French works (works dedicated to Vinyes, works premiered by Vinyes, etc.).Born in Catalonia in 1875, Ricardo Vignes studied piano and composition at the Conservatoire de Paris, where he gave his first recital at the Salle Pleyel in 1895, and enjoyed a thrilling and enthusiastic career that spanned more than four decades. A champion of contemporary music of his day and of young progressive composers, Ravel's "The Mirror," "The Ancient Minuet," "The Water Play," "Pavane for a Passing Princess," and "Gaspar at Night"; Debussy's "For Piano," "Prints," "Masks," "Island of Joy," and "Images Volumes 1 & 2, He is also known as a premiere performer of other works by Satie, Faria, Albéniz, and Severac. He introduced Russian music to France, including Mussorgsky, Balakirev, and Prokofiev, and as a piano teacher, he was known as Poulenc's mentor. He was also a friend of artists, poets, and novelists, including Picasso, Gide, Colette, and Cocteau. Tokyo M-Plus
