Description:
Debussy: Complete Piano Works, Volume 3 ◆Volume 3 of the Complete Piano Works of Debussy series includes the famous piece “L’Isle joyeuse.” The liner notes by pianist and musicologist Chiara Bertoglio, featured in the English booklet, present surprising testimony from Ricardo Vignes, the premiere performer of “L’Isle joyeuse,” and also discuss the possibility that “L’Isle joyeuse” is part of a trilogy. 【Included Works】 ◆12 Études: A collection completed in 1915 as Debussy battled illness in his later years. Dedicated to Chopin, it is considered a masterpiece that fuses technical mastery with artistic abstraction. ◆Prints: A suite of three pieces published in 1903. It includes “The Tower,” influenced by Eastern gamelan music; “Evening in Granada,” depicting the atmosphere of Spain; and “Rainy Garden,” which quotes a French nursery rhyme. ◆From the Sketchbook: Short pieces published in 1904, characterized by a subdued and fantastical atmosphere. ◆L'Île joyeuse: A brilliant and technically demanding masterpiece published in 1904. It is said to have been inspired by Watteau’s (1684–1721) Rococo painting “The Pilgrimage to the Isle of Cythera.” ◆Masques: Published around the same time as “L'Île joyeuse.” Debussy himself stated that this piece embodies “an expression of the tragedy of life.” 【Performers】 ◆Alessandra Amara: A pianist from Florence who also serves as a professor at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in the city. In addition to solo and chamber music performances, she performs in a duo with her husband, Roberto Prosseda, who is known as a dedicated scholar-pianist. 【Recording】 ◆Recorded in February and April 2024 at the Fazioli Concert Hall in Sacile, northern Italy. Adjacent to the Fazioli factory, this hall is constantly dedicated to pursuing and maintaining the finest acoustics. The instrument used was a Fazioli F278. 【Product Specifications】 ◆Packaging: Digipak. ◆Booklet: English. 12 pages. Includes liner notes by pianist and musicologist Chiara Bertoglio. ◆Made in the EU. Disc manufactured by Optimal Media (part of the German EDEL Group).
