Piatti String Quartet explores the music of Aina Boyle in greater depth! Since winning the 2015 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, the Piatti String Quartet has been performing a diverse repertoire of rare British works and other works around the country, and this program focuses on "Fantasy and Song".After making the world premiere commercial recording of the string quartets of Aina Boyle (1889-1967), "the most prolific and important female composer in Ireland before 1950," who also took lessons from Vaughan Williams on her album released in 2023 (RCD1098), the four artists have now explored Boyle's music even more deeply on this album. Lamentations for Bion" is a well-known work that won the second place in the artistic competition (vocal category) at the 1948 London Olympics, after "Gabriele Bianchi".
