Born in Colorado, SUSAN DIETRICH SCHNEIDER—known as SPACE LADY—later featured on the legendary compilation SONGS IN THE KEY OF Z, becoming an iconic figure in outsider music. She began her career in late-70s San Francisco, initially busking on the streets with her accordion. After her instrument was stolen, she adopted the then-cutting-edge CASIO keyboard. Adopting a feathered helmet as her trademark, she was reborn as a messenger of messages from outer space. Her style, blending deep tremolo-laden electronic sounds with her unique, peace-and-harmony-seeking vocals, has garnered fervent support from contemporary artists like JOHN MAUS and EROL ALKAN. Her first-ever archive compilation, featuring rare recordings previously distributed only on cassette tapes and self-released CDs before her hiatus in the mid-90s, is finally being repressed on colored vinyl in 2026.This landmark compilation, first released on vinyl by London's NIGHT SCHOOL in 2013, cemented her cult reappraisal. Curated by the artist herself, it captures the essence of psychedelic pop that literally sounded like it came from another galaxy, played on the streets of San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury. Ten tracks that elevate existing pop songs to an entirely different dimension, including "I HAD TOO MUCH TO DREAM (LAST NIGHT)"—a reconstruction of THE ELECTRIC PRUNES with a fantastical soundscape of layered echoes—and "BALLROOM BLITZ," where racing electronic beats intertwine with an innocent vocal.
