Description:
The Happy Mondays’ classic album *Pills, Thrills & Varyakes*, often considered a symbol of the Manchester movement, has been remastered and reissued. The Happy Mondays made their recording debut in 1985 on Manchester’s prestigious “Factory Records”—the label that launched New Order and Joy Division—and were pioneers of the scene who pioneered the future of indie dance by fusing acid house dance beats with their band sound. This album is their third release, issued in 1990 just as the movement—dubbed “Madchester”—was reaching its peak. It features the band’s signature tracks, such as “Step On” and “Kinky Afro.” More than 30 years later, their grooves and genre-defying production continue to captivate audiences and influence contemporary artists. Disc 2 includes club mixes and alternate versions of singles, B-sides not included on the album, and even the latest remixes by Daniel Avery and Anna Priol (Metronomy).
