Chris Potter, one of the greatest saxophonists of our time, who has performed with Jim Hall, Dave Holland, and the Pat Metheny Unity Band, performed at the Blue Note Tokyo concert on November 23, 2022, with Mei Inoue (g), Takashi Sugawa (b), and Shun Ishiwaka (ds), who represent the new generation scene in Japan. Craig Tayborne, a freelance pianist well-known for his ECM releases, will be performing at the legendary Village Vanguard in New York City on November 23. Marcus Gilmore, who plays in the Vijay Iyer Trio with drumming inherited from his grandfather Roy Haynes. Bassist Scott Corey, who studied with Charlie Haden and has played with Chris Potter on several albums, plays with the all-star band. Chris has played mostly original material in the past, but all six songs on this album are covers.The range and selection are truly unique, from the Amazonian folk song "Nozani Na," the spiritual "Got the Keys to the Kingdom" on the title track, Charlie Parker's jazz standard "Klactoveedsedstene," and the only collaboration between Antonio Carlos Jobim, Sico Buarchi, and The range and selection of songs is truly unique, from "Olha Maria," the only collaboration between Antonio Carlos Jobim, Sico Buarchi, and Vinicius de Morais, to "The Keys the Kingdom," a jazz standard by Charlie Parker.
