A deluxe edition of the 1972 album, which was being prepared before his death, is now available! Melanie Safka, a.k.a. Melanie, a leading folk singer and songwriter who has been active with BUDDAH RECORDS since the 1960s, spins delicate melodies.She sadly passed away on January 23, 2024, and had just revived her own label, NEIGHBORHOD RECRODS, and was working on a deluxe reissue of this classic album, which was released as a two-disc set at the time. in 1972, Melanie and her producer and husband together with Peter Shekerick, began work on what would become their most ambitious album to date.The album was originally intended to be the first double album by a female rock artist and the first worldwide release on NEIGHBORHOD RECRODS, the label she founded in 1971. However, "Brand New Key" was a big hit earlier that year, and the album was re-worked and 10 songs were selected for release as a 1LP album.However, Melanie herself has said from the beginning that this album was not in its true form. Now it has been reissued in its entirety. The melancholic impression of the album remains, with her voice sung in a relaxed manner, and the many guest musicians, including percussionists and flutists, adding color to the album.
