Disciples, the music freak's hottest label, releases Phew's latest work, "Vertigo KO"! A legend of Japanese underground music, Phew began his career in 1978 fronting one of Osaka's earliest punk groups, Aunt Sally, before going on to work as a solo artist in the '80s with such artists as Ryuichi Sakamoto, Connie Plank, Holger Shukai of CAN, Yaki Liebetzer, and Ryuichi Sakamoto. He has collaborated with many well-known artists, including Ryuichi Sakamoto, Connie Plank, Holger Schukai and Jaki Liebzeit of CAN, Alexander Hacke of Einstürzende Neubauten, and Chris Haas of DAF, and in recent years, Ana da Silva of The Raincoats, Jim O'Rourke, Icuee She has also collaborated with Jim O'Rourke, Ikue Mori, Oren Ambarchi, and Yoshimi (Yoshimi P-We) of Boredoms/OOIOO/Saicobab, among others, and has announced the release of her latest work.This is the first work by a Japanese artist to meet the esteemed criteria of Disciples, a label that has been recognized by music fans for its previously unreleased recordings of cult heroes such as Black Lodge, Bogdan Rachinsky, and His Name Is Alive. Phew's new wave-oriented work from the early 1980s has attracted a great deal of interest from core music freaks and labels in Japan and abroad, and he has collaborated with an impressive list of prominent artists, but Disciples has been more interested in his more recent work, such as "Light Sleep," "Voice Hardcore" are modern classics from her impressive career and convinced Disciples that Phew is once again at her peak, leading to the release of this album. It is precisely this moment that Disciples wanted to explore with this release. Vertigo KO" features songs recorded around the same time as the two aforementioned albums, as well as new songs created specifically for this release.The album comes with a 20-page booklet, which includes a text about Phew and a photo by Masayuki Shiota, who also appears on the cover.
