Jaejoong Ryu, a composer born in Korea in 1970, has been invited to the "Naantali Music Festival" in Finland and the "Mecklenburg Music Festival" in Germany, and has been a resident composer and adjudicator at the International Violin Competition in Astana, where he received international In 2009-2010 he was the artistic director of the Seoul International Music Festival, and in 2011-2012 he was the composer for the Gołów Philharmonic Orchestra in Poland. This album was recorded in 2016 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra; the cello concerto was written for the virtuoso Alto Noras and the marimba concerto for June Han, both of whom gave their premieres at this concert to great acclaim. The second movement of the marimba concerto is also a memorial to the 2014 "Sewol" capsize, and is dedicated to the more than 300 victims of the accident. It was performed by Novák, the lifetime assistant conductor of the Royal Philharmonic. Naxos Japan
