Jonathan Dove (1959-), a leading British composer who has been hailed as Britten's heir apparent after his breakthrough with Flight (1998), commissioned by the Glyndebourne Festival, sings in this BBC and Champs Hill Records co-production of the complete mezzo-soprano works of Jonathan Dove. Kitty Waitley, who sings the complete works, has been selected for the Kathleen Ferrier Award and BBC New Generation Artist, and Dove has dedicated her song cycle Night Not Spent Alone, which she gave its world premiere at the 2015 Cheltenham Music Festival. The fact that Tenebrae's music director, Nigel Short, is the producer of the project shows great promise. Tokyo M Plus
