This is the debut album by a string quartet led by renowned Russian violinist Ilya Gringolts. It is noteworthy that he has boldly named the ensemble after himself—perhaps a reflection of his brimming confidence. This recording of Brahms (1833–1897) features a magnificent contrast among his string quartets: the meticulously crafted and dramatic First, the serene Second, and the vibrant Third. The Piano Quintet, with its intense interplay with the piano creating a sense of tension, is a masterful performance that allows listeners to fully enjoy the surge of emotion and the exuberance of youth.
