Ana Mazzotti's masterpiece 'Ana Mazzotti (1977)', considered the pinnacle of Azimuth Works and highly regarded as a rare groove and Brazilian psychedelic classic, is now available worldwide for the first time on CD/LP! Born in Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil, singer-songwriter and pianist Ana Mazzotti demonstrated extraordinary talent, collaborating with the likes of Hermeto Pascoal. Tragically, this brilliant artist passed away at a young age in 1989 due to cancer. Following her seminal Brazilian rare groove masterpiece 'Ninguem Vai Me Segurar (1974)', 'Ana Mazzotti (1977)' stands as one of the few recordings from her career. This album features only one new track, "Êta, Samba Bom," with the rest recorded through an exceptionally unique method: overdubbing parts onto the master tapes from the 1974 album.Following the previous album, José Roberto Bertolami (keyboards) and Alex Marreiros (bass/guitar) from Azimuth returned, complemented by Eduardo Assad's gorgeous horn section. Above all, the vocals were thoroughly re-recorded. Tracks like "Agora Ou Nunca Mais" and "Eu Sou Mais Eu" are rendered even more powerful and groovy, while songs such as "Cordão" and "Bairro Negro" feature an overwhelmingly intense vocal performance reminiscent of contemporaries like Elis Regina and Ivan Lins. The original release, being an Azimuth-related work, remains highly sought-after in the used market and is notoriously difficult to find, making this world-first reissue a welcome treat. Alongside 'Ninguem Vai Me Segurar (1974)', this is a masterpiece of 70s MPB that deserves to be heard.
