Description:
Adolf Busch (1891–1952), born in Siegen, Germany, was one of the leading violinists of the 20th century. This album is the second volume of Busch’s collection of works for clarinet; Busch also left behind a remarkable body of work as a composer. Much like the works of Max Reger—whom he reportedly admired as a boy—this music makes masterful use of intricate counterpoint and, at times, reveals a playful spirit, allowing his overflowing talent to shine through. Bettina Beigelbeck’s expansive clarinet playing leaves a vivid impression. Recorded in Baden, Germany, in 2014–2015. (C)RS
