The Four Seasons, a pastoral epic poem by 18th century Lithuanian pastor/poet Christojonas Donelaitis, describes peasant life and nature. Lithuanian composer Bronius Kutavicius (1932-) took this as his text and succeeded in creating a powerful portrayal with primitive sounds and folk melodies. This live recording was made to commemorate the composer's 80th birthday. Recorded in 2012, this celebratory work features a reading of the poem by famous Lithuanian actor Darius Meskauskas and a performance by one of the country's leading ensembles. (C)RS
