This is a collection of preliminary (UK Regional Championships) assignments for each division of the 2023 Besson UK National Brass Band Contest. The featured Championship assignment is Philip Wilby's "Red Priest". The piece was commissioned by the Black Dyke Band to Wilby as a free assignment for the 2010 European Brass Band Championships. It was a famous piece that was talked about at the time as a world premiere at the Championships. Other works include "Chorale and Toccata" by Stephen Bulla, as well as works by Darrol Barry, Rodney Newton, and Philip Lawrence. Even though it is a collection of pieces, it is full of remarkable works. Besson British National Brass Band Contest] The British Champion will compete in this historic competition, which has been held since 1900.The current contest is divided into 8 districts: "London & Southern Counties", "Midlands", "North of England", "North West", "Scotland", "Wales", "West of England", and "Yorkshire". Each year, regional qualifying competitions are held in March in each region, and the finals are held in the fall. This is the music for the regional qualifiers, and the music for the finals will be set separately.
