Taking a step forward from the loneliness and introspection depicted in her debut album *Rift*, this new work explores themes of hope, love, and the preciousness of being supported by someone, building a rich musical world where light and shadow intertwine. Deeply moved by Leos Carax’s film *The Lovers on the Pont Neuf*, which she watched during production, Mann drew significant inspiration from the beauty that exists within despair and the form of love that rebuilds the world together. The resulting *Wishbone* is an intensely personal yet universal work that embraces both fragility and radiance. The album blends delicate melodies that carry on the folk song tradition, raw expressiveness reminiscent of Fiona Apple and Tom Waits, and organic arrangements featuring piano, viola, cello, double bass, and banjo. The sound she crafted alongside producer Fabian Prynn vividly brings out the strength and fragility inherent in her voice. The fear of loving, the possibility of loss, and yet the courage to believe. “Wishbone” marks a new milestone for Clara Mann as she embraces the beauty and uncertainty of life as they are.
