With over 45 years in their career and their 10th album, 'Hoggar', Tinariwen, the pioneers of Tuareg music and Grammy Award-winning artists, have simultaneously achieved a return to their roots and evolution. Rooted in the nomadic culture nurtured in the desert spanning the Mali-Algeria border, they have fused Tamachek-language political commentary, syncopated rhythms, bluesy guitar, and uplifting melodies, earning global acclaim over the past two decades. This album presents a more raw and powerful sound, centered around communal singing reminiscent of gathering around desert campfires and acoustic guitar, deeply connected with a new generation of Tuareg musicians.Relocating their base to Tamanrasset in southern Algeria, musicians spanning generations gathered to record these tracks with a focus on live energy, simultaneously reflecting nostalgia (assouf) and the ongoing political reality.
