Richard D. James, aka Aphex Twin. He is one of the greatest artists in the world of electronic music, who earned the title of "Techno-Mozart" at a young age, and is the undisputed signature artist of "WARP RECORDS". The long-awaited reissue is now available!
In 1992, WARP released the innovative compilation "Artificial Intelligence", which opened with the song "Polygon Window" by Richard D. James, a.k.a. Aphex Twin (although the song was released under the name The Dice Man). Dice Man). The following year, in 1993, the young "Techno Mozart" released his first album on WARP, the legendary "Surfing On Sine Waves," under the name Polygon Window rather than Aphex Twin. The album, produced by the then 22-year-old Richard, was a milestone that would change the direction of electronic music for the rest of its history.The album title was selected by Rob Mitchell based on Richard's own statement, and the album debuted at #2 on the UK Dance Charts. In the same year, a sequel, the EP "Quoth" was released, which included the title track as well as a song that first appeared on this EP.
In 2025, 32 years later, Surfing On Sine Waves (Expanded Edition) will be released as an expanded edition that combines the original version of the album and EP into one.
