Emo legends American Football are set to release their first new album in 17 years, since their debut album was released in 1999! Shortly after releasing their self-titled debut album on Polyvinyl Records in 1999, the band announced their dissolution. Despite playing only school festivals and small club shows, their work is still one of Polyvinyl Records' best-selling albums, and has been called "the most influential rock album of its time" by Noisey and "the most influential rock album of its time" by Stereogum. No other band has been able to connect with so many people despite their temporary success, except for American Football. When the band suddenly decided to play their first show in 15 years in 2014, three shows in New York sold out in a few hours. The response was tremendous at their subsequent tours in Chicago, London, Barcelona, and Tokyo. One year later, they have completed their first new album in 17 years.This self-titled album is again a work that takes an unexpected detour from familiar paths. Memories that have been buried deep in the recesses of one's mind are brought back to life by a nostalgic scent or a crack in the concrete, or by the anxiety that arises when facing a lover with a love light that seems about to go out. The reason why everything still feels new after 17 years is because everything is still fresh for them. They have put the lid on their production for some reason, and now that they have grown up and are better able to maintain their musicianship, they have decided to pull the cork out themselves. This album was produced by American Football and Jason Cupp (Avril Lavigne, Finch, Jimmy Eat World, Sum 41, Evanescence, etc.) and recorded at ARC in Omaha and Shark Studios in Chicago.
