Shady Nasty is a trio consisting of Kevin Stathis, Haydn Green, and Luca Watson, hailing from Sydney’s underground scene. Drawing on their backgrounds in jazz and classical music, they’ve garnered attention for their unique sound—which pushes those influences to the extreme limits of punk—and have built a cult following centered around live venues. While embodying the gloom and sharpness reminiscent of King Krule and Low Life, they don’t stop at mere influence—they deconstruct and reconstruct these elements, elevating them into a sound all their own. They quickly earned high praise from critics with their early EPs *BadPosture* and *CLUBSMOKE*, presenting an immersive worldview and a consistent aesthetic. On their debut album *TREK*, they depict the struggles of maintaining creativity and surviving in Sydney, weaving in the distinctive accents and realistic sense of daily life characteristic of a port city. With Kim Moyes of The Presets serving as producer, their sound has evolved into a more experimental and texturally rich soundscape. Following collaborations with acts like Shame and Sleaford Mods, they continue to expand their fanbase with overwhelming energy that sparks frenzied mosh pits at their live shows.
