Following the “AudioTrack5” EP (2017) and highly successful performances at Strelka Institute in Moscow, the Barbican Centre in London, and Tate Tanks, the collaborative project between electronic producer Darren Cunningham—known as Actress—and the London Contemporary Orchestra (hereinafter LCO) is releasing the full-length album *LAGEOS* via *Ninja Tune*. This project was realized through a collaboration between BoilerRoom and the LCO, with support from the Arts Council England—a UK government agency—and *NinjaTune*. The album was produced by the LCO sending audio tracks of their recorded parts—recorded at Spitfire Studio—to Actress, who then reconstructed them. Meanwhile, the LCO also re-edited “Hubble” (from the album *Splazsh*) and “N.E.W.” (from the album *R.I.P.*). The synergy between live electronics and acoustic sounds created in this work not only produces a wonderful harmony but also evolves instrumental performance from traditional forms into a new hybrid style. Just as Xenakis once composed music for the architecture he designed and designed architecture for his own compositions—as evidenced by his inaugural performance at the Barbican Centre—we obtained the architectural blueprints for that venue. After fusing sounds inspired by the building into the production arrangements, we created a work of homage that deconstructs them as thoroughly as the response of a drum machine’s filter envelope. An unprecedented masterpiece was born here—one that seems to play out the future of architecture, live sound, and electronics, while also functioning as dance music.
