A dance album that embodies all of human emotion by George Lee, a pianist of Chinese-American descent who won the second prize at the 15th International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2015. He started playing the piano at the age of four and aspired to become a pianist. Wanting to broaden his horizons as a musician, he chose the joint program at Harvard University and the New England Conservatory of Music, where he gained a wide range of experience and study. While exploring his own music on a daily basis, he is one of the hottest young musicians in the world today, demonstrating brilliant technique, extraordinary grace, and a natural ability to attract an audience. By choosing "Movements" as the title of this album of piano music, George Lee underscores both the structure and the dance spirit of his work. Eighteen movements from Schumann's "David League Dances" (supplemented by an arabesque in C major) are followed by Ravel's "Elegant and Sentimental Waltz" of eight dances and three movements from Stravinsky's "Petrushka."These works reflect the effects of color and harmony and the evolution between introverted and extroverted impulses. The Davidic League Dances embody the full range of human emotions: anxiety, sadness, triumph, bliss, and pure love.
