This album by Piotr Anderszewski carefully depicts the diverse world of the characteristics of three composers who asserted and shaped the musical identity of the Central European countries at the beginning of the 20th century. Janacek from Moravia, Szymanowski from Poland, and Bartok from Hungary. The works by the three composers on this album are all based on folk songs, but all use experimental harmony and musical language in interesting ways. Janacek's slow, leisurely tempo and slow listening, with its inexpressible frustration and the scent of death between the lines; Szymanowski's unique entwining and bewitching music, which borrows the form of a traditional Polish dance; and the use of Hungarian and Slovak folk songs as material, but with the limits of harmonic function and a free-flowing melody. limits and Bartók's search for free-spreading melody.
