Canto Ostinato, a legendary minimalist masterpiece by Dutch composer Simeon ten Holt, who celebrates his 100th birthday in 2023. Adam Kosmijeja's unique interpretation of the album is presented here as a solo piano performance. Holt has written music that is trance, meditative, and at the same time highly emotional, creating a compilation based on repetitive musical structures. Its repetitiveness, movement, and spaciousness go far beyond the realm of classical piano music. From its meditative, flowing, relaxed sound, to the bursts of emotion with romantic harmonies and stability, to the occasional spicy accents and irregular rhythmic energy (the core of the entire piece is reminiscent of techno), to the beautiful melodies that emerge after very long periods of The repetition over and over again revives the listener's memory of what has been buried deep in the recesses of his or her mind.Originally written for four pianists, Canto Ostinato, this recording challenges Kosmijeja to record it as a solo version in cooperation with Holt's publisher, Donemus.
