Description:
Commemorative disc for his visit to Japan! Symphony No. 7, a monumental work that established Bruckner's reputation as a composer during his lifetime, with its idealistic and sincere approach and ultimate clarity of sound, led by the brilliant young conductor Rahav Shani. The composition of the first movement began at the end of September 1881, shortly after the completion of Symphony No. 6, and the climactic section of the second movement was being written when Wagner, whom he most admired, died on February 13, 1883, and the coda to the movement was written in the midst of his grief. The entire work was completed in September 1883, and its premiere in December 1884 by the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra under Nikisch was a great success. The result is a work that, unlike the other symphonies, never underwent major revisions, but was completed with the idealistic weaving of Bruckner's music, like an endless stream of Bruckner's great river, coupled with the rigor of his quest for ultimate perfection. Rahaf Shani, a gifted conductor and pianist born in Israel in 1989, will assume the position of Chief Conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra in the Netherlands in 2018, Music Director of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in the 2020/2021 season, and Chief Conductor of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra in September 2026. He is scheduled to assume the position of Chief Conductor of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in the 2020/2021 season and Chief Conductor of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra in September 2026. This work has been recorded by many famous conductors who have interpreted Bruckner's music, and recently, new young conductors have also taken up the challenge of recording it. Rather than overdoing it with lyricism and romance, he maintains a cool gaze throughout the entire work, while bringing out a sincere approach and ultimate clarity of sound, creating an ideal Bruckner that seems to flow. Only Warner Music Japan handles the imported version, which comes with a Japanese-language commentary and obi. The Japanese-language commentary includes a newly written commentary by Yutaro Ishihara, a member of the International Bruckner Society, as well as a Japanese translation of the work's commentary in the original booklet.
