CLOSER" is a collaborative album by Bonn, Germany-born jazz trumpeter Nils Würker and fellow German jazz guitarist Arne Jansen, musicians and longtime best friends who have known each other for over 20 years and recorded together for nearly 15 years. The two musicians and longtime best friends have known each other for more than 20 years and have been recording together for nearly 15 years. Also released on vinyl at the same time! Jazz trumpeter Nils Wurker was born in Bonn, Germany, and between 2005 and 2012 released five albums on his own label, EAR TREAT MUSIC, as well as guesting on Omarla Portuondo's albums, and playing with Lee Rittner, Dave & Don Grusin, and Will Wurker. He has also toured Europe as "Hang All Stars" with Lee Rittner, Dave & Don Grusin, Will Kennedy, Wolfgang Schmid, and others, and has remixed Gregory Porter, Hugh Masekela, and Laura Lopez Castro. He has won the ECHO Jazz Award (German Jazz Grammy) and the German Jazz Award, and has become one of the most successful jazz trumpeters on the European jazz scene since 2010. The two have known each other for more than 20 years and have been recording together for nearly 15 years. The new album is a deeper exploration of the virtuosity and musical dialogue between the two musicians. The entire album was recorded at Wulker's EAR TREAT studio in Munich, mixed by Grammy Award-winning Jay Newland, and mastered at Battery Studios in New York City using remastered recordings by Miles Davis, Billie Holiday, and Bob Dylan. The album was mastered at Battery Studios in New York by Mark Wilder, known for his remastered work with Miles Davis, Billie Holiday, and Bob Dylan. Included on their latest release, "CLOSER," are newly created original numbers and new interpretations of the two musicians' favorite pop and rock numbers by Nine Inch Nails, Ry X, Blue Nile, and others. The resulting album captivates the listener with every note, while inviting them into new and exciting soundscapes as if they were best friends and trusted colleagues. From the duo's ultimate minimalist sound to what sounds almost orchestral, the two outstanding musicians and longtime best friends explore the commonalities in each other's music and playing, and bring their idiosyncrasies into full play.
