Description:

David Bowie is a legend who has always been ahead of his time and has continued to pioneer the times. In 1973, Bowie released "PINUPS," an album of covers that in a sense represented a "reset" for him, as he broke away from his bloated Ziggy Stardust image and covered British Beat songs from the 1960s as if to unravel his own roots. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the album's release, a limited edition half-speed master analog vinyl cut by John Webber at AIR Studios is now available! David Bowie, a legend who was always ahead of his time, only 6 months after the release of his iconic album "ALADDIN SANE", the iconic Bowie of the 70's, and with The Spiders From Mars, sealing his Ziggy Stardust persona forever! Released in October 1973, three months after Ziggy Stardust's final performance at the Hammersmith Odeon, David Bowie's classic cover album, PINUPS, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The album "PINUPS" was actually released on October 19, 1973. On October 20, the day after the 50th anniversary, the album will be released as a 50th anniversary half speed master analog release. The sound sources on this analog release were cut using a customized late Neumann VMS80 lathe, using a master of the original master tape restored to 192 kHz, with no processing at all during transfer. The half-speed master was also cut by John Webber of AIR Studios. Recorded at Chateau d'Eauville in France, which Bowie would later use for the recording of his album "Low," "Pinups" was a work that took off the shocking persona of Ziggy Stardust and reset his own style by unraveling his own roots. A covers album that pays homage to the artists that Bowie witnessed and inspired at clubs like The Marquee in London in the mid-to-late '60s, PINUPS includes songs by The Yardbirds, The Kinks, Pink Floyd, The Who, Pretty Things, and The Kinks, among others. The album features songs by artists such as The Yardbirds, The Kinks, Pink Floyd, The Who, Pretty Things, and The Easybeats. (1/2)
