A Collection of Composer Gabriel Pierné's Various Original and Witty Works, Including Historical Recordings of His Own Compositions and Other Works French composer, pianist, organist, and conductor Gabriel Pierné (1863-1937) was born and raised in a musical family. At the Paris Conservatory, he formed an exciting musical friendship with Debussy, a year his senior, and was awarded the Prix de Rome (1882), recognized by masters such as Massenet and Franck. A renowned performer, he was the resident organist of the Cavaillé-Colle organ at the Sainte-Clotilde Abbey and the successor to Edouard Colonne, who led the "Concert Colon" orchestra named after him (not after Colonne, who was Jewish, but after " (The name was changed to "Concert Gabriel Pierné" instead of Colonne's, who was Jewish, but was changed back to "Concert Colonne" immediately after the liberation.) ) He is also a renowned composer, with over 50 works numbered in his oeuvre, all of which are rich in originality and wit. His ballets, such as "Cidalise and the Shepherd," are among his best-known works, while many of his piano works and other pieces are little known. The second half of CD9 and CD10 include historical recordings, including a performance by Pierné himself.We have not included a bilingual lyrics translation in the hope that many listeners will enjoy listening to this album at a low price.
