Master Conductor Otto Klemperer 50 Years After His Death2023Complete Recordings of Symphonic and Concerto Works for Old EMI on Latest Remastered SourcesOn July 8, 2023, the master conductor Otto Klemperer will mark the 50th anniversary of his death. To commemorate the occasion, the complete catalog of his recordings from Warner Classics will be released in two boxes, with the recordings remastered from the original master tapes at 24bit/192kHz in 2023. The first of these, "Complete Recordings of Symphonic & Concerto Works (95CD)," will be released in June 2023. These 95 CDs focus primarily on the symphonic repertoire and will be released prior to the opera and religious works boxes. Together, these two boxes form the entire "Otto Klemperer/Warner Classics Remastered Edition". This is the entire catalog to which the great Klemperer's Warner Classics now holds the rights. Originally recorded for the former EMI Columbia, HMV, Electrola, and Parlophone, it has been newly remastered at Art & Son Studio in 2023 at 24bit/192kHz from the original master tapes or the best available sources. His golden age as a recording artist began in the 1950s, when he developed a close relationship with the Philharmonia Orchestra in London, and many recordings were made until 1971, two years before Klemperer's death. The majority of the music recorded here is by major composers of the Austro-German school of the late 18th and early 20th centuries. However, as the complete list of composers indicates, the repertoire ranges from Baroque to modern and contemporary, as well as works from other countries: three premiere recordings (Hindemith with Dennis Brain: a take from the Horn Concerto [CD4]) (Schubert: a take from the Symphony No. 4 [CD58]) ( Fugues and Variations for Strings by Klemperer [CD93]).Also included is a collection of Klemperer's own compositions [CD93-94] and interviews by music journalist John Transky with musicians who have performed with Klemperer [CD95].
