The Belcha String Quartet, highly acclaimed for their polished sound and ultimate interpretation, recorded from 2000-2009 during their tenure at the former EMI. The Belcha Quartet was formed at the Royal College of Music with Corina Belcha (violin) from Romania, Krzysztof Hodgielski (viola) from Poland, and two other members, and studied with the Cilingirian String Quartet, the Amadeus Quartet, and later with the Alban Berg Quartet, The quartet recorded quartets by Schubert, Britten, Bartók, Mozart, and others, winning many Diapason d'Or awards for their phenomenal performances. The Belcher String Quartet plays with all their might, not with traditionalism, but with a dynamic and free interpretation of music, backed by various cultural backgrounds, in order to most vividly reflect the masterpieces they perform.
