Poulenc's Violin Sonatas, now on period instrument disc for the first time! It is also the arrival of an album in which Maksim Emelianichev, who is well known for his Baroque and Mozart performances, gives a marvelous piano performance of modern and contemporary works. The title of the album is based on an impression of Henri Matisse's "Jazz" book of paintings, which contemporary Ukrainian composer Sergey Ahunov has adapted into 15 small pieces. It was commissioned by performers Igonina and Emelianichev. It is stylish and easy to listen to, and Emelianichev's pop sensibility is also a pleasure to hear. Yuliya Igonina was born in Belarus. She studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Eduard Graci and won the first prize at the Novosibirsk Violin Competition presided over by Zakhar Bron in 1998 and the Yampolsky International Violin Competition the following year, as well as the first prize at the Tansman International Competition held in Poland in 2000. He is also the leader of the New Russian String Quartet, and he and Emelianichev perform together in perfect harmony. The coupling is Poulenc (Matisse Fan) and Messiaen.Both works were made in the late 1940s at the same time as the "Jazz" book and were the first appearance of period instruments, but Igonina's violin performance is dramatic and full of tension, and Emelianichev's sharp fingerings are overwhelming on the piano in the Poulenc sonata, which is known as a difficult piece. The deep resonance of the 1908 Brüttner piano in the collection of the Piano Museum in Lubinsk is also an attraction. King International
